The number of cases of COVID-19 worldwide has exceeded the threshold of 94 million

COVID-19 continues to spread, with over 94 million infections in 190 countries and two million deaths. The United States has some of the highest rates of infection - more than 24 million cases and more than 400,000 deaths from coronavirus. In the meantime, several coronavirus vaccines have been approved for use, either at the country level or at the level of regional and global structures, such as the European Union and the WHO, reports Moldova 1.

The Dagenham suburb of London is among the most affected by COVID-19 areas in Europe. The first thing that catches our attention when we arrive in the neighborhood is the number of masks we see, a practically unprecedented image in the city. An hour's drive away, the area has the highest cumulative incidence in England. More than 1,600 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, three times more than in Spain.

"Nobody listens, people who have coronavirus go out and keep walking on the street, they don't stay at home and that's not good";

"I'm happy to wear a mask every time, because it protects me and protects others," people said.

Portugal has introduced a new blockade, the second since the beginning of the pandemic, to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Authorities have decided that students should go to school, and staying at home is mandatory. Only companies that provide essential services can remain open and financial aid will be provided to those that close, such as restaurants, cinemas, theaters and hair salons. All public events are prohibited, except for political activities taking place during the presidential election campaign. Fines for non-compliance with rules such as wearing masks on the streets will be doubled. Law enforcement patrols the streets so that the measures are obeyed.

"The aim is to monitor and sensitize drivers to the changing state of emergency and the new restrictions," said Arlindo Lourenco, head of the public security police.

"Most people are compliant. However, there are some deviations admitted by citizens, but I think they will always happen. We want people to follow the rules," said Ricardo Alves, a public security police employee.

Hong Kong authorities are issuing isolation and mandatory testing orders for entire residential blocks in heavily populated neighborhoods. Over a three-day period, thousands of residents are expected to be tested. To facilitate the process, the authorities will set up mobile stations in several areas. Meanwhile, thousands of products have been confiscated in northern China after tests revealed the presence of the virus in ice cream. Epidemiological investigations to date indicate that the ice cream was made from milk powder imported from New Zealand and whey powder imported from Ukraine. The company announced that its employees are in quarantine and will be tested in the coming days. Of these, 700 have already been tested negative.

One of the largest COVID-19 vaccination campaigns in the world has begun in India. It envisages the immunization of more than 300 million people by July, as delayed vaccine deliveries threaten to slow similar operations in Europe, the region hardest hit by the pandemic. The World Health Organization has called for vaccinations to begin in all countries "within the next 100 days" for humanity to deal with the pandemic that has killed more than two million people worldwide.
