Klaus Iohannis initiated consultations with the political parties to appoint a new prime minister

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis summoned parties and parliamentary formations on Wednesday, after accepting the cancelation of the mandate of appointed prime minister Ludovic Orban, Agerpres reports.

"After consulting all the parliamentary parties, they will present me their opinions, options, maybe some come even with proposals for candidates. I will do an analysis and if we manage to clarify, more precisely if I manage to clarify myself what is possible, we may already have an appointment tomorrow," Iohannis said on Tuesday.

He stressed that he would try to make a prime ministerial appointment "that will lead to a procedure that is being finalized".

"I will make sure I make a good appointment," said Iohannis.

On Tuesday, February 25, the President of Romania announced that Ludovic Orban has withdrew his mandate as prime minister. This is after the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR), on Monday, February 24, established that there is a legal conflict between the president and the Parliament regarding the appointment of PNL leader Ludovic Orban as prime minister.
