France celebrates National Day today

The French celebrate National Day, but in a reduced format due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The traditional military parade on the Champs-Elysées to celebrate the Fall of the Bastille has been canceled, as have popular balls or concerts, reports Moldova 1.

Some of the ceremonies moved to Concordia Square, where President Emmanuel Macron was present, and in the stands were invited the French in the front line of the fight against the epidemic: medical staff, teachers, cashiers, police, gendarmes, firefighters, workers in factories that produce masks or tests.

Emmanuel Macron also gave his traditional live speech at the Elysée Palace, where he presented his program for the future, a few days after he changed the prime minister and part of the government. The evening will end with a spectacular fireworks display launched from the Eiffel Tower.

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, congratulated the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, stating that "building a strengthened bilateral partnership, based on the close ties of friendship that unite us, is a priority for the Republic of Moldova."

"I firmly believe that the Moldovan-French dialogue will continue to be strengthened in areas of common interest," the head of state wrote on his Facebook page.
