COVID-19: Germany is to introduce stricter border controls with France

Germany will apply stricter restrictions on crossing the border to the French department of Moselle on Tuesday, added on Sunday to the list of those where the Robert Koch Institute for Disease Control recorded the appearance of "areas with a worrying version" (coronavirus),” DPA reported, quoted by Agerpres.

Entry into Germany from those areas is prohibited, with a few exceptions, such as truck drivers and some essential workers. German authorities have classified 15 other countries and regions as risk areas, including the Czech Republic and Austria. The measures this month produced long queues on the roads to the German border.

The European Commission has considered that the restrictions are disproportionate and do not fall within the limits agreed by the European Union.
