Coronavirus: 20 million people have been vaccinated in the UK

The UK has already vaccinated 20 million people with the first dose, and authorities are delighted with the result. However, the restrictions remain in force. This weekend, however, the beautiful weather drove the British out of their homes and absolutely all measures were ignored. There was also an indescribable crowd in Milan, especially since the restrictions are back today, Moldova 1 reports.

The UK has seen the lowest number of new cases in the last five months. The lockdown, but also the vaccination campaign, seem to be working.

"I am absolutely delighted that over 20 million people have been vaccinated in the United Kingdom. "Thank you to everyone who came in for the vaccination, because we know for sure that the vaccine protects you, protects your community, and is also the way out for all of us," said Matt Hancock, UK Health Minister.

It is unknown at this time how long the British peace will last. A new strain first identified in Brazil has already been found in three cases in the UK. This weekend, it was over 15 degrees Celsius, so people ignored the order to stay home. The cliffs and parks were crowded.

And in Milan, the warm weather took the Italians out into the streets, especially since the restrictions are back today. Traffic will be banned after 22:00 for no good reason, restaurants, bars and museums will be closed. So people took full advantage of the last weekend of freedom and gathered in the parks and promenades by the thousands. Anti-COVID measures are imposed in five regions.

As of tomorrow, the Norwegian capital Oslo is tightening quarantine measures to combat the sharp rise in infections with the new Coronavirus caused by the new British strain. All restaurants, non-essential shops will be closed, and high schools will take some online courses. In France, the number of new COVID-19 infections is growing rapidly again, and half of the new cases are caused by the British strain of Coronavirus. So in 20 regions, measures have been taken to keep infections under control.

"We remind people to keep their physical distance, to avoid crowded places and to have their faces covered, in order to avoid contamination," said a public official.

Overseas, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the most reputable infectious disease expert in the United States, encourages Americans to get vaccinated with any of the three approved vaccines. The last one is the one produced by Johnson & Johnson. At the same time, the immunologist announced that American minors up to 12 years old will be vaccinated at the beginning of 2022.

"Minors over the age of 12 are to be immunized by the end of the year at the earliest, but most likely in the first quarter of 2022. High school youth will be immunized in the fall," said Anthony Fauci, an immunologist.

Currently, in the United States, only people over the age of 16 can be immunized.
