Germany reports over 67,000 cases of Covid-19 infection

The number of cases confirmed by COVID-19, in Germany, reached 67,366, and that of deaths - 732, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Wednesday morning, after a further 5,453 patients were tested in the last 24 hours, reports Agerpres referring to Reuters.

From Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning, in Germany, 149 people died from infection with the new coronavirus.

On the other hand, a German cruise ship, of which 41 passengers and crew have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus, refuses to leave Australia.

The Artania ship is docked since last week in Fremantle Harbor, south of Perth.

Western Australia chief executive Mark McGowan said he was "extremely disappointed" and hoped that the passenger ship would leave Australia "as soon as possible". He asked the federal authorities in Canberra to intervene in this case. "I would ask the Australian Border Force to put the ship on its itinerary. The ship must return to Germany,” McGowan told a news conference in Perth.

"If the ship needs to be cleaned, then it must be cleaned and then resume its itinerary. If it needs protective equipment, it has to receive it, but the boat has to leave as soon as possible," he added.

A total of 844 apparently healthy passengers and crew members departed from the Artania on Sunday with four flights of the Condor airline to Germany, with the support of the Australian Border Force and the Berlin government.

In the Australian hospitals, there are 41 passengers and crew members on the cruise ship, some of whom are in serious condition.

Fremantle port authorities have announced that the ship was due to depart on Friday, but the crew announced the Australian Border Force that the vessel should remain for two weeks and has requested a complete disinfection of the vessel.
