South Korea has announced the most cases of coronavirus in a single day
South Korea reported the highest increase in cases of new coronavirus infection in a single day, authorities confirming Friday, 594 new cases, reports Mediafax, referring to the BBC.
The increase brings the total number of infections in South Korea to 2,931, according to the South Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).
So far, 16 people have died from coronavirus in South Korea. The country has the most confirmed cases outside China, where the epidemic broke out.
Most cases of Covid-19 virus infection have been registered in Daegu city located in the southeast of the country.
The spread of coronavirus in South Korea has been associated with the Christian group "Shincheonji", considered by many to be a religious sect. Authorities suspect that group members became infected during religious services in Daegu, and then traveled through the country undetected.
