Parliamentary Elections in Finland: Social Democrats and Nationalists are on the same footing

Finland's Social Democrats and the Finnish nationalist party are almost on par with the 17.7% and 17.5% of the votes in the Sunday's general elections, according to the final results presented by the Ministry of Justice, reports Reuters, quoted by Mediafax.

The Party of the Co-Governing Center of Prime Minister Juha Sipila and the Center-Right National Coalition stood at 13.8% and 17.0% respectively, marking for the first time in a century when no party gained more of 20% of the votes in the general election.

With a fragmented parliament and deep divisions in mass parties on how to address the rise in public service costs and so costly, talks about forming a coalition government after the election could be prolonged.
