PAS requests the withdrawal of the PSRM candidate from the electoral race

PAS deputies Dumitru Alaiba and Mihai Popşoi have launched a request addressed to the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) requesting the withdrawal from the electoral race of Stefan Gaţcan, after having given to the press information about the candidate's involvement, 16 years old, in a sexual scandal.

"We urge the Socialists to distance themselves from their candidate in the no. 38 constituency. We ask to denounce such facts, we ask Igor Dodon to withdraw his candidate from Hincesti because our citizens deserve a more honorable candidate, with a higher morality, or for a party, which claims to promote traditional values, such a step is required to withdraw the candidate who has proven himself to be a dishonorable man by his actions,” declared Dumitru Alaiba.

Yesterday, in some media in the Republic of Moldova, information was published on the involvement of Ştefan Gaţcan in a sexual scandal in 2004. The PSRM considers these actions manipulations, and the facts invoked - as non-existent.

"We are sorry that Mr. Gaţcan, in the last week of the election campaign, has to live the results of the grievous methods of some political opponents who have found nothing but to pollute him by invoking aberrations, manipulations and absolutely non-existent facts about a situation 20 years ago, an unpleasant situation from which the gentleman came clean out of court. He has never had any problem with the reputation, integrity and methods of our opponents, the hysteria of the population, we consider it to be an impotence of our opponents," said the PSRM deputy Vlad Bătrîncea.

On March 15, in the uninominal constituency Nr.38 Hincesti, new parliamentary elections will take place, after the democrat Alexandru Botnari has resigned the deputy mandate in favor of the mayoral position of Hincesti municipality.
