On Sunday, in the polling stations, the video recording system will work
The Central Electoral Commission states that in the elections on Sunday, November 1, the video recording system will work in all polling stations.
The video recording system does not have an internet connection, it is functional and active only on voting day, in order to monitor the electoral operations in the absence of voters. Thus, for Sunday's presidential election, the video recording will start at the start of the preparatory electoral operations regarding the opening of the polling station (sealing of ballot boxes, checking the existence of electoral lists, ballot papers, stamps) and will be stopped at the opening of the polling station, that is, at 7:00. Subsequently, the video recording will be restarted at the closing of the polling station and stopped after the completion of the procedure for counting and totaling the votes by the members of the electoral bureau of the polling station.
In the case of organizing the second ballot, the video recording will be made according to the method stated above for the first round.
The CEC emphasizes that this system is an additional measure to secure and ensure the transparency of the voting process, of election day operations, including against possible electoral fraud. At the same time, the system will not be used in voting at the voter's location.
The Commission reiterates that the installation of video cameras in polling stations will not compromise the secrecy of the vote. The images will not be transmitted online, but stored on a separate device, exclusively in case of possible electoral disputes, they can be used as evidence for their examination and settlement.
For a transparent election, the CEC urges national and international observers and those nominated by the electoral contestants to monitor the entire electoral process, and in case of irregularities, to inform the electoral bodies without delay.
