The Political Party "Vointa Poporului" considers the 24 February consultative referendum an undemocratic exercise
The Political Party "Vointa Poporului" considers the 24 February consultative referendum an illegitimate, undemocratic exercise on citizens' money, noting that the revocation of the mandate of a deputy is an artificial and populist issue. According to the representative of the political party, Teo Cirnat, citizens must vote for this referendum against, Radio Moldova News reports.
"According to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, Article 2, the power belongs to the people. People need to discuss the issue before the referendum, while at the referendum the problem to be solved. The problem of the quality of the deputies is not a new one in the Republic of Moldova. The Venice Commission and the good practices in the field of referendums have long said that it contradicted the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, contradicted the practices of the EU and the member states of the Council of Europe," said Teo Cirnat.
