The Customs Service is improving its customs clearance mechanism

The Customs Service improves and simplifies the mechanism for customs clearance of international postal items through which various goods are delivered. By the end of this year, the institution will implement a specialized module for the pre-processing of parcels sent by express mail, reports Radio Moldova.

The new system will be offered through the USAID Structural Reform Program in Moldova, supported by a series of modernization projects of the customs authority.

The new module will be integrated into the new version of the application software "Asycuda World" and will be based on the data exchange between the customs body and the postal operators. This will allow the potential risks of fraud to be identified and a decision taken until the parcel arrives at the post office of destination. Thus, the new control procedure will exclude possible frauds, simplify customs clearance procedures, and release will be done in a shorter time.

Within the framework of the talks, the Head of Customs also mentioned the new version of the TIR-EPD application, implemented with the support of the USAID Program. The module allows freight transporters, under cover of the TIR Carnet, to submit pre-transit declarations, thus saving time and resources.
