Projects to relaunch local economies

In 24 localities in our country, projects will be carried out to relaunch local economies, and for this purpose, each of the selected communities will receive up to $60,000 in a UNDP Moldova project. The local contribution will represent at least half of the value of the projects, in the realization of which the associations of the natives will also participate.

They will ensure the cohesion between local partners, as well as the mobilization of the diaspora for collective actions of local economic recovery. The total amount of the 24 grants is $4.8 million, of which about $1.5 million are funding from the Swiss Government, and $3.3 million - local contributions.

Thus, by the end of 2022, in the 24 localities, 12 tourist routes and recreational offers, three post-harvest infrastructure units, four business centers and industrial parks will be created. At the same time, two centers for the economic recovery of waste will be established and businesses in the field of animal husbandry will be initiated. In total, more than a thousand new jobs are to be created following the launch of more than 50 businesses and the expansion of another 48 existing ones.

The 24 localities receiving grants were selected through a competition from the 35 partner communities of the UNDP project "Migration and Local Development", carried out with the support of Switzerland in 2019-2022.
