Energy issues, discussed by the President with specialists
President Maia Sandu had a meeting today with energy specialists to discuss issues and to identify strategic solutions.
"The energy sector has been sabotaged for years by various group interests, political and economic factors, and is a huge source of illicit income for corrupt officials. This must stop, especially since the energy field affects all citizens and is related to state security. The lack of a government with full powers and a functioning parliament worsens things even more ", said Maia Sandu.
The topics discussed are the purchase of electricity, the interconnection of the local energy system with that of Romania, the modernization of district heating systems, gas supply, strengthening the independence of the National Energy Regulatory Agency and the Competition Council, energy efficiency, renewable energy.
According to the president, "a priority remains the investigation of corruption schemes in the energy sector, which leads to the enrichment of some people at the expense of rising prices for consumers."
