Press: Price for gas purchased from Romania higher than at Gazprom
"Brother - brother, business is business" - is the principle applied by Romania to Moldova, while talking about the gas pipeline Iasi-Ungheni, shows an analysis conducted by TVR journalists. According to them, the price of gas bought from Romania will be more expensive than that Moldova buys from Gazprom now. This is because the neighboring country imports natural gas from the Russian concern Gazprom. That even if the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta said that the price of gas imported from the neighboring country will be lower compared to that in Russia.
"Do not imagine that 17 months later, when pipe will be finished, Moldovans will apply an arrogant shot to Gazprom, glad that they will take cheap gas from their Romanian brothers. Romania is also importing gas from Gazprom. it is desirable that Moldovan authorities take increasingly more gas from Romania and fewer directly from Russia. But that will be their decision, as, importantly, they will have an alternative. So far, they had not, and brothers across the Prut could wake up in the middle of winter, with gas cut and icicles country, called to negotiate other prices with Russians, "reads Moise Guran analysis.

On August 27, the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova, construction were inaugurated of the gas pipeline "Iasi-Ungheni". The pipeline will have a total length of 43 kilometers with its maximum capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters annually, which is more than the annual gas consumption of Moldova.
