Gazprom raised the gas price for Moldova

Starting January 1, 2019, the price of natural gas delivered to Moldova by the Russian giant Gazprom is $237.46 for a thousand cubic meters. This tariff is only valid for the first quarter of this year, according to an answer for Mold-street.com, provided by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE).

Thus, the import cost of Russian methane delivered by Gazprom in the first three months of this year is higher by about 25% compared to the import price of the same period last year.

Gas import increased by 9%, the price by 34%. According to ANRE data, in 2018, 1.13 billion cubic meters of gas were imported into the Republic of Moldova (without the Transnistrian region), with about 9.3% more (about 96 million cubic meters) than in 2017.

It is the largest volume imported since 2011. At the same time, about 45% were imported in the first quarter of last year.

In February 2019, head of state, Igor Dodon, had a discussion with the president of the Russian company "Gazprom", Alexei Miller, asking him to examine the possibility of granting the Republic of Moldova a 25% discount on the current gas price.
