Vestmoldtransgaz starts construction of the pipeline by which the Romanian gas will reach Chisinau

Vestmoldtransgaz will begin construction of the pipeline tomorrow through which the Romanian gas will reach Chisinau. The second phase of the project foresees the extension of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline and interconnection with the network in the capital of the Republic of Moldova, reports Radio Moldova News.

Both project implementation, pipeline management and operation will be carried out by Vestmoldtransgaz, which will build its operational complex near the Agrarian University of Chisinau.

It is about six blocks of buildings that will stretch over an area of 4 hectares. The complex will monitor and direct the transfer of natural gas from one system to another. In case of failures, engineers will be able to exchange technical data in real time with a similar center in Romania.

The construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline represents an important step for diversifying the sources and routes of energy supply, modernizing and developing the existing energy infrastructure and integrating the Republic of Moldova into the European energy market.
