Entrepreneurs to pay more for renewable energy production

Entrepreneurs will pay more for renewable energy production. Under the National Energy Regulatory Agency's calculations, the new tariffs would be twice as high. The draft decision in this regard was presented today in a public debate, organized by ANRE and involved relevant specialists and entrepreneurs who are going to obtain the status of eligible producer in 2019. They considered the investments, operating and maintenance expenses, cost of raw material and amount of electricity produced annually, Moldova 1 TV reports.

According to the calculations of the ANRE, the tariff for electricity produced by photovoltaic installations would be 1.79 lei for one kWh, wind installations – 1.47 lei, hydroelectric installations – 0.93 lei, installations on biogas – 1. 69 lei and by biomass installations – 1.67 lei.

"These prices, rates are differentiated by types of technology. The data from the international practice regarding the establishment of specific investments are used in determining these prices and rates. Each year they are adjusted based on the evolution of the exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar, and the producers will benefit from this support scheme for 15 years from the commissioning of the production plant”, said ANRE representative, Alexandru Ursu.

"Lately, we have received many requests, letters from the consumers and  producers about energy production from renewable sources. We organized this meeting, though ANRE already calculated the fixed tariffs and the ceiling prices”, said the general director of ANRE, Veaceslav Untila.

Energy producers say they are pleased with the new tariff changes.

"We developed a renewable power plant in the hope that there will be good rates, but we were selling renewable sources for 90 dollars and it was very little for our company. Now the tariff for photovoltaic installations is 1.79 dollars. It is a much better rate", said the executive director of the Company, Anastasia Cusnir.

Under the provisions of the law regarding the promotion of the use of renewable sources, ANRE calculates, approves and proposes to the Government the ceiling prices, which will be used when organizing tenders to offer the status of eligible producer.
