Alexandru Savva, proposed to the Parliament for the position of deputy governor of the NBM

Alexandru Savva's candidacy will be proposed to the plenary of the Parliament for approval as Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), but also as a member of the Executive Committee and the Supervisory Board of the NBM. The Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities approved, at today's meeting, the report on the draft decision drawn up for this purpose.

Based on the provisions of the Law on the National Bank of Moldova, the First Deputy Governor and the Deputy Governors, as well as the members of the Executive Committee of the NBM are appointed by the Parliament at the proposal of the Governor of the National Bank.

At the last meeting, the Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments and Immunities examined the files of the candidates nominated for the position of Deputy Governor of the NBM. Consequently, it decided that the governor's proposal to appoint Alexandru Savva as deputy governor corresponds to the rigors provided by the Law on the National Bank of Moldova.

According to a communiqué issued by the Parliament, the Legal, Appointments and Immunities Commission also established that the other two candidates - Maia Pircalab and Constantin Şchendra - do not meet the conditions established by the legislation for the appointment of the deputy governor. Thus, the NBM governor is to submit other candidacies.

Alexandru Savva's candidacy for deputy governor of the National Bank of Moldova is to be approved by the full parliament. He is to be appointed for a term of seven years.
