A loan agreement between Moldova and the EBRD was approved

The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration approved today the initiation of negotiations and the approval of the signing of the Amending Agreement no. 2 to the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the construction and rehabilitation of roads in the Republic of Moldova.

The approved document is technical and was prepared by the EBRD at the request of the Government to ensure the full implementation of the project, as well as to facilitate the provision of funds for financing the rehabilitation of the national road network and construction of bypasses of some localities.

The amendment agreement will contribute to the full implementation of the project "Rehabilitation of roads in Moldova IV", which will have economic benefits on improving the condition and quality of the national road network by reducing road transport costs for road users in Moldova, which will facilitate economic growth.

The project in question does not provide for attracting additional resources from the creditor nor for modifying the financing conditions from the EBRD, being proposed to redistribute the amounts within the installments according to the updated estimates.

The Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the construction and rehabilitation of roads in the Republic of Moldova, amounting to 150 million euros, was signed on June 28, 2013.

According to the legal provisions, in the case of international treaties, the adoption of the decision on the initiation of negotiations is preceded by the consultation of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee of the Parliament.
