97 Moldovan business women will receive non-reimbursable funding through the national program "Women in Business", co-financed by the European Union and managed by the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprise Sector (ODIMM). The winners of the 4th Investment projects competition signed today the non-reimbursable financing contracts with a total amount of over 12 million lei. According to estimates, 230 new jobs will be created. Following the completion of the investment projects, cumulative investments in the national economy will constitute 18 million lei.

“Women are less represented in business, especially in business co-operation, in business development. We will extend this program for another three years. The EU that came with this generous grant, € 1.7 million. We will develop this program not only for business, we will include this gender dimension in all the projects we develop at Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure”, said Anatol Usatâi, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure.

The Secretary of State in the field of international infrastructure, quality and cooperation, Iuliana Dragalin, said that the development of women's entrepreneurship is a priority for ODIMM.

“30% of businesses are run by women. I hope that next year we will say that both men and women run  Small and Medium Enterprises”, said Iuliana Drăgălin.

The Director General of ODIMM, Iuliana Costin, said that this Program gives women the chance to implement their ideas, and the businesses run by women, for the most part, are prosperous and sustainable.

“Most women are from rural areas. We are sometimes surprised by the ingenious ideas of women, and I mean that that there is a very great potential for women that is not yet valued in the village and this program will continue to show us successful ideas and will contribute to the economy. The competition was very fierce. The best won ”, said  Iuliana Costin.

The grants offered by the European Union were used to purchase investment items and business development services, said the beneficiaries of the program.

"It helps us create businesses and jobs at home and I want to encourage many ladies and gentlemen to capitalize on their ideas. We have in Peresecina a company producing uniforms, that employed 90 percent women. "" I managed to create three jobs in the rural sector, in Durleşti. We made investments in IT technology worth about 150 thousand lei ”, say the beneficiaries.

The pilot program "Women in Business" is managed by ODIMM and lasts for 3 years. This government initiative aims to promote the economic and social skills of women in rural areas. The program is financed from the state budget and is supplemented by European Union funds.
