Martisor, celebrated by Moldovans in Ireland

Even if they are far from their birthplaces, they know how to keep their dear traditions in their souls. Given that Ireland is subject to the harshest anti-COVID restrictions in all of Europe, the communities of the Moldovan diaspora, supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in this country, have prepared to welcome spring as it should. They made martisoare, recorded and will broadcast online recitals about the symbol of spring and homesickness, informs Moldova 1.

In harmony with the songs at home, our compatriots from Ireland made martisoare for their loved ones. They also pass on this passion to the children so that they also keep the symbol of spring in their souls. Nicoleta Plamadeala has been in Ireland for 5 years with her parents. Out of longing for home and martisor, she composed a poem.

In order to promote the tradition of Martisor in Ireland, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the emerald island gave martisoras to the Irish MEPs, but also to the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in this country.

"The embassy sent martisoare made in Ireland by our compatriots and officials here to familiarize them with our most beautiful traditions. We send a virtual martisoara to everyone in every corner of Ireland. With this virtual martisor, we wish you prosperity, health and, of course, we very much wish you to always carry spring in your soul," said the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Ireland, Larisa Miculeţ.

From March 1, the Embassy's website will offer more surprises. "The embassy, in Dublin, at the initiative and together with several communities of ours from all over Ireland, launched together a digital program to celebrate Martisor. Follow the page of the Embassy where these materials from the digital celebration of Martisor in Ireland will appear," added the ambassador.
