The success story of the Public Library in Răzeni

She managed to turn the library into a meeting place not only for those interested in reading, but also for those who want to learn more about modern technologies. We are talking about the director of the Public Library in Răzeni, Ialoveni, Svetlana Bivol, whose activity in the Novateca project was presented by USAID Moldova as a new success story. After six years of implementing this project, readers have today free access to modern technologies and services in 1,000 libraries across the country, Moldova 1 reports.

USAID support for the creation of a modern library brings more and more readers, says Svetlana Bivol.

"We got six computers, but it was important that librarians were trained. At the library, children can benefit from informal instruction. The animation club is a very demanded service not only in Răzeni. Children make the movie of the readed book. Thus, we have very effectively combined the book and the computer," Svetlana Bicol, director of "Elena Alistar” Răzeni Library, said.

Through more games, children learn more useful things, such as alternative energy. Because the manuals are available in English, children also have a free course to study this language.

For six years, the Novoteca project has transformed over 1,000 libraries from the country into community centers.
