The inhabitants of Alexandru cel Bun village still keep the tradition of sitting

At the sittings, as in the past, the inhabitants of Alexandru cel Bun village from Soroca district gather. They managed to keep the ancestral tradition and still gather in the winter for sittings. Thus, people say they want to pass on the habits of the new generations so that they are not forgotten. Dressed in folk costumes, they sang, told jokes and, most importantly, followed the old occupations of weaving, embroidery and weaving, informs Moldova 1.

"Every year, we sit in the winter. We all gather, at my house today, at someone else's tomorrow. Here I also wove on the carpet as my mother-in-law taught me,” says artistic director Valentina Gâlcă.

At the sittings, they came from small to large, so that the ancestral customs could be passed onto future generations. Children come with their grandmothers and learn to crochet and weave. From time immemorial, it was customary in the locality for people to gather at a householder's house, where they did various works, either weaving carpets or weaving. Housewives nostalgically remember those times.

At Alexandru cel Bun, the sittings are organized at the end of autumn, once the agricultural works are completed and until they start again in spring.
