Francophone Film Festival, inaugurated in Chisinau

The latest French film productions can be watched online tonight. Five screenings will be presented during this week at the Francophone Film Festival, inaugurated today in Chisinau. The festival is organized by the French Alliance of Moldova with the support of the French Embassy in Moldova, Mesager reports.

The films can be watched online on the Facebook page of the French Embassy in Moldova. By September 27, Moldovan filmmakers will have the opportunity to discover the novelties of French cinema.

"The five films, selected on the agenda of this year's festival, offer unexpected encounters with remarkable characters, which transpose the viewer into a world of emotions and fascinating discoveries" , said Pascal le Deunff, the French ambassador to Moldova.

"The French-language film festival is one of the rare opportunities for the public to discover recent award-winning films, to see well-known actors," said Adrian Ciubotaru, deputy director of the French Alliance.

"The Francophone Film Festival is at its 19th edition and the pandemic has never stopped this festival", said Igor Sharov, Minister of Education.

"In addition to the French-language film festival, French institutions were involved, both in support of other film festivals and film projects," said Virgiliu Margineanu, president of the Union of Filmmakers.

All the films to be presented were made in 2019. The films will be subtitled in Romanian.
