The international canto academy contest "Alexei Stârcea" has nominated its winners

Marina Puţuntică and Vladislav Cojocaru from Moldova are the first prize winners of the 11th edition of the "Alexei Stârcea" International Canto Academic Contest. The event, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished composer, pedagogue and performer Alexei Stârcea, culminated with a homage concert and awards ceremony, Moldova 1 reports.

"The Overture of Spring," by the composer Marian Stârcea, the festival's coordinator, echoed in the debut of the homage concert as a sign of gratitude to the distinguished man's son for the legacy of his father.

"I have inherited from my father the love of music. I love the music world and when I am in this area I am like the fish in the water or as the bird in the sky. I hope my father sees me from heaven and he is happy too," said composer Marian Stârcea.

Mihail Munteanu, the president of the jury, was the disciple of Alexei Stârcea, the first holder of the 1972 singing competition award.

"I had the happiness to learn from this great man. Alexei Stârcea was also a great culture man, he was a talented composer, a great singer. It's an extraordinary thing that his music is played," said Mihail Munteanu.

The international contest lasted two days.

The first prize in the female voice category was given to Marina Puţuntică, soloist at the National Opera, and to the male voice category - Vladislav Cojocaru, a student at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts.

The awards were offered by the Union of Musicians of Moldova, the Romanian Cultural Institute "Mihai Eminescu".

After the Awards Gala, the "Alexei Stârcea" Prize winners from the previous editions have evolved, for many of them the contest has become an important launch pad for the music world.
